Throughout Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer we will be capable of being able to see through a victims eyes. There are many children whom became victims after 9/11. Not everyone can relate to that day as though the main character is able too. The character suffers from fear of talking to people or getting close with someone. By reading this book our group will be able understand how someone whom was affected. Although the whole country was affected and will never forget that day I think it will be more touching to hear from a 10 year old boy.

This novel can open our eyes to the pain and suffering of losing a loved one and bring to light how one can cope with such a loss. Many of us cannot understand how tough it is to lose a loved one, especially a parent. What makes it so hard for the protagonist is that his father died during the events on 9/11; he didn’t even have time to say good-bye. Before he knew it his life had changed and things would never return to how they had been. This novel can teach us important life lessons and guide us in realizing ways to cope in difficult emotional circumstances.

In conclusion, all of us as a group find the story line of this book extremely interesting. The reviews it received from others who read it said how touching and suspenseful the story turns out to be with all the adventures Oscar experienced to find the lock to the key. In Oscars terms, this was a way to get closer to his father. At the age of 9, he portrays an interesting journey and because his father passed away, it leaves the story that much more interesting for Oscar to look for clues and the people he meets along the way. This seems to be a good read because not only will it touch the reader, but all of us as a group are intrigued to know what happens to Oscar and if he’ll ever find the lock to the key. This novel is about the ups and downs of life, how horrible accidents affect others in a huge way, and most importantly loosing someone or something you love.
